  Quadex Manhole Repair (see
application video) In this series of photographs,
a manhole showing signs of acid corrosion is rehabilitated using Quadex
  Dynastone® Acid-Resistant Manhole Repair Mortar.

      | | In this image, the manhole is shown after high
pressure cleaning and removal of the soft decayed conventional concrete
layer. Dynastone® repair material will be applied directly on top
of this material.  The dark material shown on the shelf is from a former
repair job using a silicate-based product and could not be removed by high
      pressure (3500 psi.) washing.   |
      | | The first step of the repair procedure is to patch
the inflow and outflow pipe junctions and build up the shelf area to
minimize wetting of the shelf and insure rapid draining during surcharge
events. Sealing the junctions between the manhole and the incoming and
outflowing pipes provides positive containment of the sewage within the
system and prevents infiltration of groundwater from outside.   |
      | | This image shows the repair performed at the
      pipe-manhole junction.   |
      | | This image shows the Quadex/Dynastone®
mortar being applied by a centrifugal pump.  The mortar is applied to a
depth of at least ¾”. When the proper amount has been applied, a worker
will hand trowel the surface to smooth and finish the job.   |
